Welcome to the St Catherine’s website! We hope that in reading about our Parish, its church and its people and activities, you will also feel closer to Jesus Christ, for whose witness and worship the Church exists. We hope too that you decide to join us at a service, or in one of the many activities we enjoy throughout the year.
PRAYER FOR A NEW RECTOR – 6 January 2026
Please see our Prayers page about how we are praying for a new Rector for our Benefice.
Clock News!
We have made the exciting and important discovery that St Catherine’s may have the oldest working church clock in the country. It is thought to have been made around 1400 and could have been moved from Montacute Priory to St Catherine’s after the Reformation – see our clock page for more details.
The clock was removed in March 2025 to be overhauled and to restore the dial to its traditional blue and gold colours. It was restored to the church in July 2025, watched by the village school children who had prepared a time capsule to be placed behind the clock face.

A re-dedication service took place on August 2025, led by the Bishop of Bath and Wells, Bishop Michael Beasley.
We are fundraising for the restoration work, and to mount a display and video linkage of the clock in the church. If you would like to support this amazing project then please use the link below:
